Case Study – Photography for a luxury, patient-focused dental practice in Hove, East Sussex

Twenty One Dental is a high-end private dental clinic in Hove, East Sussex, renowned for combining advanced dental care with a highly personalised, patient-focused approach in a relaxed and elegant setting.

Twenty One Dental’s brief

With a new website in development, the dental practice wanted fresh photography that captured not only the sophistication of its facilities but also the warm, highly personalised care it is known for.

Every patient visit is designed to feel relaxed and welcoming, delivered with genuine personality by a team who balance professionalism with approachability. The images had to work across the site, from hero banners to service pages, and appeal to patients seeking both reassurance and excellence.

The brief also called for photography that could show the patient journey in a way that would resonate with future patients and support the practice’s marketing, a common requirement in my dental practice and healthcare photography projects.

Our approach

Working closely with marketing agency HMDG, who managed the client relationship directly, we split the day between creating consistent, approachable headshots for 11 team members and capturing storytelling images that follow the patient journey, from arrival and welcome through the relaxed, personalised clinical consultations to the important follow-up conversations after treatment.

For the headshots, we developed the lighting style collaboratively with the clinic’s owner during the shoot, settling on a light grey background that complemented the team’s black uniforms. Several team members were also photographed in different uniforms to reflect their varied roles, giving the dental practice a flexible image library for multiple uses.

The storytelling photography captured the calm, unhurried atmosphere and the personal touches that make the experience memorable. This includes genuine moments during both the clinical consultations and post-consultation follow-ups where patients discuss next steps and future appointments. We also showcased their state-of-the-art equipment, highlighting the practice’s commitment to excellence without letting technology dominate the human story.

This collaborative, patient-centred approach is at the heart of all my healthcare and dental photography work. By working closely with clinical teams, practice managers and marketing partners, I create imagery that not only looks professional but also reflects the trust, care and personality that patients value.

The results

The new image set gives Twenty One Dental a cohesive visual identity for its website and marketing. Each photograph supports the practice’s positioning as a modern, luxury dental provider, helping potential patients feel informed, reassured and confident in their choice.
