About the client

Thornton Wright is a newly formed independent equine veterinary practice, based in North Lincolnshire. The practice is a continuation of an existing practice, Thornton Equine, originally established in 2017, and is now led by Dr. Rowan Wright MRCVS. The practice is friendly, professional, and dedicated to providing a comprehensive veterinary service for horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules in the area.

The client’s brief

With a new partnership structure and company name, the team at Thornton Wright were keen to refresh the branding for the new business. A key part of the relaunch was a modern design that retained the traditional values of the previous practice.

Along with a new logo, the team planned to create a website with bespoke storytelling equine vet photography. They were keen to avoid stock photography where possible. Instead, they preferred to use their own photography to show the practice base at Fairfield Stud, the team, and their veterinary work nearby with racehorse and private equine clients.

Our approach

Working closely with the team at Thornton Wright, a shoot plan was created, detailing the locations and images required for the website. On the day, the weather was challenging with low cloud and light drizzle. Taking into account the weather and the need to move quickly with multiple locations, a light and mobile equipment set up was essential.

When photographing animals, especially in equine vet photography, it’s important to work quickly. The fast-moving nature of the shoot and wet weather didn’t allow for any flash photography, so pushing the camera’s low light capability while retaining image quality was essential. On a fast-moving location shoot, it’s all about anticipating what’s coming next. Adapting to the light and being able to move from portraiture to action is essential to ensure you don’t miss a shot.

The results of our equine vet photography

Thornton Wright Equine Veterinary Surgeons have captured the hands-on and personal nature of their work. Equine veterinary work is highly skilled, fast-moving, and physical. It requires an adaptable, caring, and flexible approach across a variety of disciplines. The new Thornton Wright website brings to life the new team, their location, and services, with visually engaging storytelling equine vet photography and carefully crafted copy.

We’re absolutely delighted with the photos…
