Background and the client  

Bechtle UK design and build IT business solutions for a diverse customer base across the private and public sectors in the UK. They also help businesses create a modern workplace combining world class IT with functional and creative design.

Looking after their people and making Bechtle a fun and rewarding place to work is high on their list too. So when it came to refreshing their corporate headshots, it was important to create a set of images that felt on brand, capturing the character and personality of nearly 100 employees.

Bechtle’s brief

Bechtle had a clear vision for their headshots. Their logo and branding is green and they were keen to use a green backdrop to make their headshots standout.

They explained their headshots would be used on the company intranet, website and email signatures. And the team would also have the option to use the new headshots on their personal LinkedIn profile. So the images needed to work for a variety of end uses.

From the start, Bechtle wanted to combine high quality photography with a personalised approach.

The main objectives were:

• High quality headshots with a consistent look across the business
• Unique look for Bechtle UK
• Relaxed, personal and fun headshot photo session for everyone involved
• Opportunity for everyone to choose their favourite image at the end of each mini session

Our approach

Through a combination of site visits and Teams Meetings, we found a suitable location in an open plan area. We also partitioned the space to create privacy during the session and redirected people traffic to avoid interruptions and distractions.

After exploring a few locations, a living green moss wall was selected as the back drop for the headshots – creating an instantly recognisable design that felt on brand.

Some large windows to the side were covered to block harsh sunlight and we photographed with a three light set up to create a set of bright, fresh, evenly exposed headshots. Extra light was also added to the green background to make it pop.

Each team member had plenty of time to relax into the session. There was time for introductions, lighting adjustments and direction to bring out the best in each person.

Everyone approaches a headshot photo session with a different mindset. Our job is to guide and direct, so we create a warm, engaging and confident headshot and everyone leaves with a great experience.
