James Berwin’s brief

The aim was to create a bespoke library of photographs for James’s new website, combining professional portraits, clinical environments and natural patient interactions.

Above all, James wanted photography that reflected who he is and how he works with patients. This meant capturing his personable approach alongside his specialist clinical expertise.

The images needed to give prospective patients a sense of the person behind the practice, helping to build trust and reassurance before their first appointment.

Our approach

Working closely with James and his website designer, we agreed the photographic brief, developed the shot list and identified the photography needed for the new website. This ensured the photography supported the website’s design and content requirements while reflecting James’s personality and approach to patient care.

The shoot took place at Sulis Hospital and Bath Clinic in Bath. We combined professional portraits with storytelling photography in consultation rooms, reception areas and clinical and surgical environments.

Careful planning allowed us to work around the hospitals’ operational requirements while capturing photographs that demonstrated the specialist clinical environments in which James works.

What stood out during the shoot was the natural warmth in James’s interactions with patients, clinical teams and hospital staff. The focus was on capturing these genuine moments alongside his professional portraits and clinical photography. Together, the photographs created a versatile collection that felt relaxed and authentic.

The results

The finished image library brings together James’s clinical expertise and his personal approach to patient care.

From approachable portraits and patient consultations to specialist hospital environments, the photographs create a consistent visual story. They provide James with a versatile collection of images for his new website and wider professional communications.

By showing both the clinical and human sides of his work, the photography helps prospective patients gain a better understanding of who James is and what they can expect. It also creates a more personal introduction before their first appointment.
