About the client

Furniturebox is a fast-growing online furniture business founded in 2015 by former school-friends Monty George and Dan Beckles. With stylish, well-made furniture and a focus on great customer experience, they’ve become leaders in modern furniture commerce. Their mission is simple: to make beautiful homes possible for everyone, whatever the budget.

As part of their continued growth, Furniturebox wanted updated people-focused photography that reflects the energy, personality and values behind the brand.

Furniturebox brief

Furniturebox approached me during a wider update of their brand visuals. They wanted relaxed, natural photography that felt bright, welcoming and true to who they are as a business. The aim was to move away from anything overly corporate or staged and instead create:

  • Relaxed headshots for directors and the senior management team

  • Environmental portraits across their office and warehouse

  • Authentic moments of the team in action

  • A sense of place that reflects their day-to-day environment

  • A versatile image library for their website, social media and press

As a fast-growing e-commerce brand, this project was a great example of team photography that captures leadership, warehouse and office teams in a relaxed, authentic way.

We worked closely with their marketing director and the brand guidelines they shared to ensure the final look matched the tone and personality of the business.

Our approach

Ahead of the shoot, we held planning sessions to break down the brief, explore locations, and understand the personalities and the visual stories we wanted to capture.

With a busy warehouse and office environment, we structured the day around the business’s operations – starting with director and senior leadership portraits before moving into team activity and candid workplace moments.

My approach focuses on natural and mixed light, gentle direction and creating a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Many team members hadn’t been photographed professionally before, so clear guidance and a friendly, steady pace helped everyone feel comfortable and confident.

The goal throughout was simple: create images that feel genuine, approachable and aligned with the young, dynamic culture at Furniturebox.

The results

The final gallery provides Furniturebox with a clean, bright and consistent set of images that represent their team at its best. Key outcomes include:

  • Natural, approachable headshots for directors and senior management

  • Authentic team imagery across the warehouse and office

  • A fresh visual style that reflects their brand values

  • A versatile image library to support web, social and press

Projects like this sit at the heart of my business storytelling photography, helping companies bring their people, culture and everyday operations to life in a relaxed and authentic way.

The final result looks so good. The photos are warm and bright, the team looks relaxed and happy.

Nick spent a day with the Furniturebox UK team to get headshots and storytelling images across the warehouse and offices. He did such a great job of putting everyone at ease, giving clear direction to get the relaxed, approachable shots we wanted. I had compliments across the business that they enjoyed the day and really liked working with Nick. The photos perfectly reflect our business and will get lots of use for us in marketing and press materials. Highly recommend Nick!
