About the client
Roxburgh Milkins, a Bristol based specialist law firm, was created with the aim of providing legal services in a more client-focused way, that would work better for businesses.
They do this by understanding their clients’ needs and goals and implementing solutions that are designed to achieve those goals. They don’t just offer a standard service.
Clients also value the way Roxburgh Milkins give advice – commercial and no-nonsense. Their advice is provided by what clients describe as a “tight team” that has a collaborative style. This is deliberate – they want their clients to feel like they are part of their team.
Roxburgh Milkins brief
Roxburgh Milkins were in the process of refreshing their website and wanted to update their team headshots to better reflect the firm’s personality – professional, approachable, and grounded.
With the team continuing to grow, this also presented the perfect opportunity to create a full set of headshots that felt consistent, cohesive, and on-brand.
After discussions with the partner overseeing the firm’s branding, a clear direction was agreed. The headshots would be in black and white, with a natural, character-driven style. The brief called for a variety of poses and expressions, aiming to capture the individual personalities of the team while maintaining a polished, unified look across the full set.
Our approach
We worked closely with the Director of Commercial at Roxburgh Milkins and their marketing agency, BD Consultancy, to refine the brief and shape a style that felt true to the firm. A headshot studio was created on-site at the Roxburgh Milkins Bristol office, allowing us to maintain a consistent visual feel while keeping the environment familiar and comfortable for the team.
To bring out each person’s individuality, we took a flexible approach during the shoot. Rather than sticking to a rigid formula, we encouraged variation in body angles and expressions. Some team members looked straight to camera, while others were captured in more candid moments. Everyone was given space to show a natural, honest side of themselves, resulting in a set of headshots that feel both professional and full of personality.
The results
The final headshots delivered exactly what Roxburgh Milkins wanted – authentic, characterful portraits true to the firm’s identity. The black and white style created unity across the growing team, while the relaxed photoshoot allowed the personalities to shine through. These images now feature prominently on the refreshed website and across brand communications, giving clients a clear sense of the people behind the firm.
Nick was great – easy to work with, understood what we wanted and followed the brief perfectly. Very happy with the results!
