Every family is unique. It’s your shared experiences and your memories that help to make you who you are.

A family photography lifestyle session is all about taking your everyday moments and creating something special. What feels ordinary today will feel magical in years to come. It’s the little things in a photograph you’ll see when you look back – a subtle expression, a favourite toy, summer freckles, a smile, a hug or maybe even a tear.

Do you have a family celebration or special occasion coming up?  These are the days when we bring everyone together to celebrate and connect. They’re also a wonderful opportunity to capture the generations coming together.

Are you planning a holiday in Bath or nearby in Wiltshire or the Cotswolds?  Combining your time away with a family holiday photo session is a great way to create some wonderful memories while you relax and enjoy your time together in this stunning part of England. We can incorporate some of the iconic Bath landmarks, take a walk in the stunning parks and gardens or meet you at your holiday home.

How it works

Getting ready

Families are pretty unique, so I’ll want to get to know you a little first and find out what you enjoy when you spend time together.

So, to begin with, it would be great to have a chat, over a cuppa perhaps. We’ll share some questions which will help me work out what you’re looking for.

Taking time to find a great location for the shoot is important. Do you search for open spaces, the energy of the city, the intimacy of home… or perhaps something different entirely. If you’re looking for some inspiration take a look at my guide five great locations for family photo sessions.

We’ll also explore who you’d like to include in your photo session. Your immediate family perhaps, or maybe you want parents, friends and more.

If you’re not quite sure if a family photo session is right for you, take a look at my post getting the most out of your family photo session.  I’ve included answers to lots of commonly asked questions and a share few tips and ideas along the way.

I’ll also send over a copy of my product list with all the printed products and packages to help you consider how you’d like to display your photos.

Your photo session

During the photo sessions, my approach is always about encouraging everyone to be relaxed and capturing moments as they happen. If there are young children involved I’ll get down to their level to try to capture their expressiveness and imagination. I’ll also want to pull back to capture moments from afar.  I always aim to be easy company and I’ll encourage you all to get involved.

Viewing your photos

I’ll select and carefully edit your best images (about 40-50) within two weeks of your photo session. You’ll have access to a private client portal, here you’ll be able to view a slideshow, select your favourite photos and share your gallery with family and friends.

Displaying your photos

Choosing how to display your photos is the final stage and the really fun bit. This is where you might select your favourites and consider how you’d like to personalise them and present them in your home, or as a gift. Unlike digital images, a print is chosen a little more consciously. This can be a fun part where we can choose the shot, the paper, the mount, the frame and so on to work in a particular place for particular reasons.

And with the photos you don’t print, you can still purchase the full set of digitals or choose a great value package that includes all of your digital images and selected prints.

There’s plenty of other options to choose from too, including

  • Hand crafted Folio fine art albums with a range of bespoke covers and finishes
  • Single or multi framed prints, available in different sizes
  • Gallery-style framed prints
  • Canvas prints

Photo sessions are typically 1-2 hours and start from £85 during the week and £125 at weekends. Your session fee is due when you make your booking and this reserves a date in the calendar. Printed products and digital images are purchased separately once you’ve viewed your gallery.

As a guide, clients typically spend between £400 and £1000 on printed products and digital images to showcase their photos.
